About Us – Care Providers

Dr. Tariq Khan

Dr. Tariq Khan is a board-certified pediatrician and a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. He is a graduate of the SUNY Health System’s Pediatric Residency Program in Syracuse. After training in general pediatrics, he moved to the Jamestown area in 1996. He is the founder of Southern Tier Pediatrics Practice, P.C. Dr. Khan’s professional interests include school health and management of sports-related head injuries in school children. Dr Khan is passionate about early intervention, which has led to partnering with Strong Starts Chautauqua. Strong Starts is a county-wide collaborative program including pediatric health care providers, obstetricians/gynecologists, schools, and numerous local agencies to universally screen children ages 0-5 for learning and behavioral difficulties. This will lead to early interventions putting these children on a path to success.


Dr. Maria Diaz

Dr. Maria I. Diaz is a board-certified pediatrician and a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She completed her pediatric residency training in 2007 at St. Barnabas Hospital in the Bronx, a program affiliated to Weill Medical College of Cornell University. In 2006, she received the Compassionate Physician Award at St. Barnabas Hospital where she worked for three years as an attending physician and teaching medical students and residents.  Dr. Diaz’s professional areas of interest are pediatric asthma and obesity. She is happy to be in the Jamestown area and enjoys spending time with her family. Dr. Diaz is bilingual and speaks fluent English and Spanish.


Amy Beach

Amy Beach is a Family Nurse Practitioner and has been with us for over ten years, working mostly in our Randolph office. Through her career, she has worked in a variety of settings, but says pediatrics is her favorite.  She received her BSN from Cedarville University and her FNP from the University at Buffalo.

Amy lives with her husband, Tim, in Randolph and they are the parents of 3 adult children, 2 who are married, so they happily claim 5 kids! Her interests include time with friends, frequent trips to Ohio to see kids, reading, walking, decorating, and trying new recipes. She is also involved in MOPS at Hillcrest church.

Amy is a Certified Lactation Counselor and has taken on the additional role of the Healthy Steps Specialist at Southern Tier Pediatrics. She works to help parents and children with additional needs, providing extra support and connecting them with resources in our community.  


Joanna Olson

Joanna Olson is a registered and certified Physician Assistant who has been working with Southern Tier Pediatrics in various roles since 2011, including internships and rotations, and has been working as a PA since 2016. She attended D’Youville College in Buffalo, NY, and started practicing with Southern Tier Pediatrics right after graduation. Joanna was born and raised in our community and says she feels very privileged to be able to give back as a provider to the pediatric population. Outside of work, she is a part of the Chautauqua County Community Foundation, where she helps divide funds for scholarships for local college students. She loves spending time with family and friends, but most importantly, in her free time, she enjoys traveling with her husband and children.


Amy Jo Caldwell

Amy Jo Caldwell is a Family Nurse Practitioner – Board Certified, who started with Southern Tier Pediatrics as an RN and continued after completing her certification as a Nurse Practitioner. Amy Jo brings over 13 years of experience working as an RN in an intensive care unit, which she did while working toward her goal of becoming a Nurse Practitioner. Her educational background began at Jamestown Community College for Applied Science with a degree concentration in Nursing. She continued at Daemen College for a Bachelor’s in Science and then at Gannon University for a Master of Science in Nursing, Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner. She was awarded the Nurse Practitioner Pacos Award in 2020. Amy is a member of the Nurse Practitioner Association in New York State, which involves staying up to date with current and evolving issues and continuing education opportunities.

Amy Jo lives with her husband, Ron, and two children in Falconer, New York. She has lived in the area all her life. She enjoys attending her children’s sporting events to watch them play, traveling, camping, and spending time with her family. She also likes to run and has completed two half marathons and runs in various charity races. She believes giving back to the community is the most rewarding part of her career.


Ellen Reed

Ellen Reed is a board-certified Physician Assistant who graduated from Mercyhurst University in 2021. She grew up in Chautauqua county and is excited to return here to practice medicine. In her free time, Elle enjoys sports, helping on the family dairy farm, and spending time with friends.


Nerissa Rich

Nerissa Rich

Nerissa Rich is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner who graduated from Penn State Behrend with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Master of Science in Nursing from Chamberlain University. She worked as an RN for five years in Maternal/Newborn and Labor/Delivery before completing her FNP board certification. She grew up in Kane, Pennsylvania and currently resides in Warren, Pennsylvania. Nerissa is a wife, a mother, and enjoys camping, boating, the beach, and spending time with friends and family.


Natalie Torres

Natalie Torres is a board-certified Physician Assistant who graduated from Daemen College in 2021. Natalie grew up in Panama, NY, and attended Daemen College for both her undergraduate and master’s degrees. She returned to Panama after completing her education to be close to her tight-knit family. Outside of work, Natalie enjoys painting and spending time outdoors.
